When a plant is rootbound, its roots fill up the entire pot and can't absorb enough water or nutrients. Re-potting will give the roots more space to grow.
The plant is growing too slowly - If your plant isn’t growing as quickly as it should be, it might be due to a lack of nutrients. Re-potting will give the plant a boost of fresh nutrients and help it start growing again.

What Soil to Use to Re-pot Indoor House Plants

Turn the plant on its side, angled slightly up at a 45-degree angle. Hold the plant at the stems and leaves gently with your fingertips, and tap the bottom of the original pot until the plant gives way and you can easily pull it out. Just be patient. You don't want to stress the plant. Fill in around the roots with fresh potting mix and water.
